Have you been to the Omame Stall at the Nelson Farmers Market yet? Omame produce natto, tofu,and kinako. Natto is a traditional Japanese food made from fermented soybeans and is a nutritious food, rich with protein, fiber and vitamins. Natto can be used as a topping for rice, spread on toast or crackers and in an omelette. Kinako is produced by finely grinding roasted soybeans into powder. It has a sweet, nutty flavor which contains all the protein, vitamins and minerals found in soybean. Omame also produce a number of ready made items using their products such as cookies, Okara Cocao Cake, Banana Cake or Cheese Cake.
